How Gameball is using their own technology to boost employees engagement? 🚀

TL;DR
Since I have joined Gameball, I loved the idea of the product and how seamlessly it can be integrated with other systems and services. And so I thought, why wouldn’t we - at Gameball - use Gameball and take advantage of its tried & true benefits internally? 🤔
That’s why we decided to join the forces of both Technical and People & Culture teams to create a gamified experience for Gameball's employees, using Gameball!
In the simplest of terms, employees collect points during their stay with Gameball by achieving various challenges and hitting up milestones. Later, employees can use these points to redeem some specially designed swag and kits which they can use however they want!
As a software engineer, building the system was much fun and challenging for me 🤩. Starting with designing the employees' challenges, going through coming up with ideas for the rewards and automating the whole process by connecting Gameball, Shopify, Google forms and Slack all together.

🚩 Gameball!
Gameball is a loyalty and retention platform that specializes in providing e-commerce businesses with gamified customer engagement tools such as rewards, points, and referrals, to increase customer engagement throughout the entire sales funnel from acquisition to retention and referral. It seamlessly integrates with popular e-commerce platforms such as Shopify and can be integrated with any system using REST APIs.
As a company that specializes in gamification technology, Gameball knows the power of turning mundane tasks into engaging experiences. So the team at Gameball has decided to use its own product to gamify the employee experience.
Gameball Kudos! 🎉
The result is Gameball Kudos, an internal incentives program that rewards employees not only for their hard work and dedication but also for their self-development and sharing their knowledge among other employees. The program is powered by Gameball's technology, which allows employees to be awarded challenges based on their actions.
It's like a game where you earn Kudos by achieving challenges and progressing during your journey working with Gameball. The program has brought a new level of fun and energy to the workplace and created a friendly competition atmosphere among employees, which made them excited and motivated to collect more Kudos.
These challenges are designed to encourage employees to participate in activities that empower people and the company, such as suggesting ideas that enhance the company's growth and culture, promoting Gameball on social media, acquiring certificates and sharing knowledge among their peers and encouraging them to go for the extra mile.
Since its implementation, employee engagement started seeing a significant increase. The program has provided employees with a sense of fun and motivation, where they can use the program to earn points and rewards on the tasks and activities they casually do during their stay at Gameball. It also helps teams as People & Culture and Marketing in their work and assessments of the company's internal and external branding.
Adding to this, Slack was integrated into the flow. A Slack channel is created where employees can see others’ achievements and submission when they complete challenges automatically. Employees get motivated and challenged when they see others' achievements and progress.
What are the REWARDS? 🤔
After accumulating multiple badges and earning points, employees can redeem their points for free products from our internal Gameball store.
Gameball Kudos rewards employees with tangible rewards such as merchandise and other cool swag. These rewards can include items such as stickers, mugs, bottles, t-shirts, and more. The rewards can be redeemed through the Gameball Merch store, which is hosted on Shopify. The rewards are designed to be fun, engaging and useful, it's aimed to make the employee feel valued and appreciated.
This is built all in all using Gameball features where employees are considered players -aka customers- and a challenge was configured for every award given to the employees.
The internal admin dashboard of Gameball manages the whole program and shows to the admin user useful analytics of how the program is performing and they can get creative in creating dynamic segments of employees based on their activity inside the program.
Employees use Gameball widget to track their own progress in the program. It shows what badges they have earned and how many points they have collected.
Some badges require some effort and multiple actions to be achieved, the widget also shows the progress of each employee
It also shows for the employees a leaderboard which ranks every employee relatively with other employees based on their actions and achievements.

But the benefits of Gameball Kudos go beyond just increasing employee engagement. The program has also helped to improve the product's quality and experience. Being a user of your own system helps to understand the user's perspective and how users interact with the program. This helps the team to identify any potential issues or areas for improvement, and make necessary adjustments to enhance the overall user experience.
Overall, Gameball's gamification of the employee experience has been a major win. By using Gameball, a super engaging environment for their employees was created.
